The final day of the 2025 European U15 and U19 Modern Pentathlon Championships in Kaunas concluded with high-energy Mixed Relay events, bringing an exciting close to a week of elite youth competition. Despite unpredictable weather throughout the week, athletes showed resilience, teamwork, and determination right to the end.
In the U15 Mixed Relay, it was Hungary’s duo of Nora Kosa and Botond Birta who clinched the gold with a strong performance in all three disciplines, totaling 1026 points. They were followed by Turkey (Yilmaz/Ozkan) with 1009 points, while Lithuania’s team – Saulė Skurvydaitė and Dovas Baltrūnas – captured bronze, scoring 998 points.
This marked the second podium finish of the week for Baltrūnas, who was also 4th in the boys’ relay and 7th individually. Their result capped a successful championship for the host nation’s U15 squad, which consistently remained among Europe’s top teams.
In the U19 Mixed Relay, the German team of Amaya El-Masri and Platon Efremenko delivered a dominant Laser Run to win gold with 1355 points, ahead of Czechia and Hungary. Lithuania’s pair, Martina Rutkauskaitė and Juras Sandanavičius, finished 6th overall with 1302 points, showing strength in fencing and consistency across all events.
The Mixed Relays offered athletes a valuable final test of strategic racing and adaptability—particularly important in challenging conditions, with outdoor events impacted by intermittent rain throughout the day.
With medals won, experience gained, and new friendships formed, the Kaunas championships close with pride for the Lithuanian team and inspiration for the European modern pentathlon community.
